About Cliff Cobbo
Cliff Cobbo, WWF-Australia’s Policy Manager – Conservation on Country, is a Wakka Wakka man from southeast Queensland. He has dedicated most of his working life to assisting and supporting Indigenous Australians, from finding them employment as a CES officer through to developing employment and training strategies with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and now in his role for WWF.
As a national policy manager for ATSIC Cliff developed national policy settings for the largest employer of Indigenous people in the country: The Community Development Employment Program. Cliff then joined the Indigenous Land Management Facilitator network assisting traditional owner groups and natural resource management bodies to implement Indigenous caring for country projects.
Cliff has been with WWF for the last three years and has established a number of conservation agreements with traditional owner groups, James Cook University, Cairns Turtle Hospital and the Reef HQ Aquarium in North Queensland.
